Reppin' My Whey: Abby Frick

Reppin' My Whey: Abby Frick

Our Reppin' My Whey series allows us to highlight members of the EFM community, the fun facts that make them unique and how EFM has made a difference in their lives.

Let's hear it for Abby, part of the EFM M.A.F.I.A.

How did you get into athletics and training?
My mom had a personal trainer when I was younger, and I was always going to the gym with her. I was in JrROTC and lead workouts there. At one point I could do 40 pushups in one minute, and I just felt like a fitness guru. When I got to my senior year I thought, "where do we go from here?" Fitness is my life.

The original idea was med school, but I got my undergrad in exercise science with a minor in nutrition and graduated during COVID. I live a really cool life as a personal trainer. I make my own hours and run my business online.

Who do you work with?
Women in leadership who are just trying to prioritize their health and fitness without getting in the way of their career or business. We underestimate the lives of women. I wear a ton of hats, and I'm not a mom, so I can only imagine.

What are your current training goals?
I don't have anything sport specific but I just want to live the healthiest life that I can.

What is your favorite hobby outside the gym?
Cooking. Baking. Hiking. I also love roller blading. I used to do it when I was a kid and picked up my old skates during COVID.

Who inspires you?
When I was younger, my mom inspired me a lot. She was always into fitness and eating healthy. That inspired me to be where I am today. God is the main piece. There is something bigger that He has planned for me, and I have so much reach and knowledge to give. He's using me in this way. I am so thankful for the journey that I am on, even with the bumps in the road. Ultimately, the journey has been amazing.

What is your walkout song and why?
Remember the Name by Fort Minor. I plan on making an impact on as many lives as I can.

If you had to pick three people to be on your team for the zombie apocalypse, who would you pick and why?
The Rock - because he can protect me, and if I had to take a wild guess, he's probably good at shooting. James Bond - because he can shoot. A mechanic - so that we can jump start a car.

What is the best piece of fitness advice you've ever been given or give?
My favorite advice to give is: love the NOW you. We have future goals, and that's great, but you have to love the you where you are not - not just the future you. If you can't love the you where you are now, making progress is going to be harder because you are doing it out of resentment for yourself. I also try to be super real about where I am in life because it is ok.

If you could live in one fictional universe, which would it be and who would you be?
Harry Potter world - Hermione

What is your favorite and least favorite workout?
I love lower body and back day - not necessarily as heavy as I can go, but at a decent weight. I do a lot of hypertrophy training. It's just fun. I get to test my limits and really push myself. I love being able to see progress over time.

Least favorite - anything that has to do with cardio. I can do a CrossFit or HIIT workout, but I can't sit on a cardio machine for a long time.

How long have you been using EFM products?
I was working at a CrossFit gym over the summer and they were a wholesaler. I was so pumped because the ingredient list was so small. They had me taste a bunch and I thought, "This is amazing." Now I've tried almost anything, and I've been so impressed with the flavor and how it mixes.

The flavor is amazing.

What are your favorite EFM products?
Nocturnal is my absolute top pick, but I also love chocolate greens and Snickerdoodle protein (seasonal flavor).

What is your favorite supplement science?
Prior to Earth Fed Muscle, I couldn't drink casein or whey because it hurt my belly. The products have allowed me to change up my protein options. It is my first time switching from plant-based.

How do you want to be remembered? What impact do you want to have?
I want to be the health and fitness helpful girl that gave all the helpful advice that she could have given. I want to know that I've done everything little thing I can do to help.
